What is: Accreditation
Accreditation n : in the U.S., a voluntary process where higher education institutions undergo an extensive review by a third party to ensure that schools and/or programs meet operating and quality standards.
Accreditation is extremely important when an online student is considering a particular distance learning college or program as it exponentially increases the value of the education. Accredited online colleges are recognized nationally and/or regionally by the U.S. Department of Education, other colleges, and, most importantly for many students, by employers.
